Who is Tiki Doug?

Early Tiki Influences:

I grew up in Indio a couple of blocks from the Tropics Hotel on Indio Blvd where relatives would stay when they visited my family.

My parents had two Luaus at our home in Reseda when I was young.

The first Luau was on August 21, 1965 when I was 7 months old.

The second Luau was sometime in 1967.

The pictures on the right are my Dad at age 24, my Mom at age 23, the Luau table you sat on the ground at, 2 pictures of guests at the Luaus and guests partaking in the Limbo.

This picture was taken in April of 1983 during my senior trip to Kauai, I’m on the left, then Dad, Mom and my brother.

I started going to the Laguna Beach Royal Hawaiian in 1985 with friends for 20+ years.

I’ve have been collecting Chunky & Lucite/Resin Swag Lamps for over 18 years, and my collection has grown and evolved over the years. Dozens of my former lamps now grace the Tiki Lounges of many friend’s homes scattered around California and beyond.
